Centre alerts defence forces in view of flood threat in HP
With the threat of floods in Himachal persisting with the creation of an artificial lake in Tibet, the Govt has alerted the defences forces and all the other concerned agencies for any emergency.

"The Centre is in the touch with Chinese Government which is giving information to us about the situation. And we have already alerted the forces and other agencies to be ready for any emergency," Home Minister Shivraj Patil said after inaugurating a building of the National Institute of Disaster Management.
He said the State Government has also worked out a plan to tackle the situation.
On the clearance from China for an inspection of the site by a for a four-member technical team from India, he said "the External Affairs Ministry has been talking to Chinese side and about exactly has to be done need not to be suggested by our experts, they (Chinese) have their own experts."
An artificial lake has been created due to landslide in Tibet creating a danger of flash floods in Himachal Pradesh.
Admitting that the country required more expertise as far as area of disaster management was concerned, however, he said "we are still certainly better than many other countries."
