To assess the damages caused by heavy rain in Himachal, a high-level team from the Centre will visit the state, said chief minister Virbhadra Singh after meeting union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at New Delhi on Sunday.
"The team includes top-level officials from various ministries and departments. Besides, banking representatives would assess the flood damages on the spot," Singh said, adding that it would assist the state government in its rehabilitation operations.
The central government would also provide funding to the state government under various centrally sponsored schemes and experts in disaster management would assist the state government in reconstruction and rehabilitation programmes, added Singh.
Apprising Shinde of massive devastations triggered by heavy rain in the state, Singh also detailed about the steps taken by the state government for undertaking massive rescue and relief operations in a time-bound manner.
Virbhadra said Shinde appreciated the efforts of the state government and assured full central assistance in relief and rehabilitation measures in the state on massive scale.
