Chaos, panic at Defence Colony

While passersby were jolted by a sudden gunshot, the ensuing chaos left eyewitnesses at Defence Colony’s D block in a tizzy below the Nature Basket and Nezone showrooms around 1pm.

“I had come down here for some work when the men in the Verna entered into a scuffle with the car carrying the money. When the security guard who had been shot at fell out, I thought he was dead. Someone informed the police, who took at least 40 minutes to reach the spot,” said Sudesh Kumar. The police, however, denied Kumar’s claim.

Meanwhile, another eyewitness, whose identity cannot be revealed as his statement is being looked into minutely by the police, said he had seen three associates of the robbers in another vehicle. “I was in a hurry and couldn’t note down its registration number. But I saw several blankets in the other car’s rear seat. The men in it were communicating with the men in the Verna,” he said.
