Langeveldt might not have fearsome pace but he does possess the ability to make the ball swing both late and far.
Hailing from Boland's Cape Coloured community, the 28-year-old had hoped to make a career as an all-rounder, but after figures of five for seven for South Africa A against Bangladesh, it was his bowling that caught the eye.
He went on to make his international debut in October 2001 in a triangular series against Kenya and India.
Despite claiming four wickets for just 21 runs against Kenya in his second match, Langeveldt made just one more appearance before his World Cup call-up 12 months later.
Against cricketing giants Australia in January 2002, the powerfully-built bowler was less fortunate and failed to take any wickets at a cost of 31 runs.
Langeveldt will, no doubt, be relishing the chance to prove himself in the World Cup if called upon.
