The ambulance carrying the heart fast-tracked the distance of 12km in just under seven minutes from the Chennai airport.

The flight landed at the Chennai airport at 4.25pm and the ambulance carrying the heart left the airport at 4.30pm reaching the hospital at 4.37pm, said a traffic police official.

Traffic is usually heavy on the road from Airport to south Chennai that wends its way through a couple of bottlenecks. But the traffic police, three at each major junction, coordinated the flow in such a way that the path was absolutely clear for the ambulance carrying the heart.
