“ We have come to know Swami Chinmayanand has joined Uma Bharati’s ‘Janadesh Yatra’ and we have contacted him to explain things”, State BJP chief Kesari Nath Tripathi told Hindustan Times over phone on Monday. He added that Swami Chinmayanand clarified that since Uma Bharti’s yatra was ‘non-political’, there was nothing wrong in joining it.

Asked as to was Swami’s joining Bharti’s yatra not a violation of his own order in which he had advised the party cadre to keep away from her yatra, Tripathi said, “We have to check whether Bharti’s yatra is ‘political’ . “But certainly we will ask him to explain and initiate action once we come to know that Uma Bharati’s Janadesh Yatra was in any way ‘political’ “, the BJP chief said.

It may be mentioned the former union minister who previously represented Jaunpur Parliamentary seat from BJP ticket, fired a salvo against the newly appointed BJP Chief Rajnath Singh for abandoning the ‘Nyay Yatra’ mid- way to ‘save’ Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party government. He even alleged Rajnath’s tacit support to Mulayam Singh and joined Uma Bharati’s bandwagaon—receiving her at Mirzapur and participating in her ‘Janadesh Yatra’ against the party guidelines. There are reports that many BJP activitists from Varanasi and Ramnagar have decided to join Uma Bharti’s Yatra. Reports said that Swami on Tuesday also lashed out at Rajnath Singh at Vindhyachal- from where Uma Bharti’s Janadesh Yatra was taken out.
