In view of the security threats to vital installations of national importance, the Centre had amended the CISF Act to provide security cover to such iconic private establishments, regardless of their private domain.

RIL's refinery complex situated in Jamanagar is a vital asset of national economic importance. It is believed to have been one of the prime targets of terror strikes.

CISF, through its 217 elite combat commando contingent, has pledged to protect the refinery complex.

Executive Director, Reliance Group P K Kapil, hoisted the CISF flag and flagged off Quick Reaction Commando Teams. He also handed over the security baton to CISF Unit Commander S K Pandey.

"This move will help in creating strong security systems for our super size capacities, also in future ventures too that may come up even in troubled states," Group President (Security and Vigilance) Reliance H S Pannu, said after an induction ceremony of CISF.

With this, CISF will be having 303 units under its security umbrella, including nuclear installations, space establishments, airports, sea ports, power plants, Delhi metro, all major Navratna companies and host of public sector undertakings.
