Air traffic at the Mumbai airport was affected on Wednesday due to dense fog in Delhi since late Tuesday. At least 10 flights were combined to deal with 50 flight delays. The flights were delayed by 45 minutes to four hours as planes were either stuck in Delhi or could not land there due to poor visibility. Flight operations however, normalised in the evening as the fog in Delhi cleared.

Indian Airlines’ officials said their flights operated with minor delays. One of Jet Airways’ Mumbai-Delhi flight had to return as it could not land in Delhi because of the fog. Two flights each from Mumbai and Pune to Delhi were therefore combined on Wednesday.

Only 51 flight movements (both domestic and international) could be made possible in Delhi between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning because of reduced visibility. Mumbai bore the brunt as most of the disrupted services were on the Mumbai-Delhi route.
