A LARGE number of organisations are in the race to undertake the work of beautification of parks in the city.
However, DM Amrit Abhijat has taken back one park given for beautification to Recron company owing to latter's apathetic attitude towards its upkeep.
Meanwhile, the officials of Bank of Baroda have been given a month's notice to start with the beautification of the park handed over to it failing which the park will be taken back.
The DM took these decisions in a meeting held at his camp office on Sunday. It is to be noted that altogether 187 parks and crossings have been listed for beautification for which altogether 33 organisations showed their interest in undertaking the task.
DM Amrit Abhijat lauded the attitude of the organisations eager for the job and said that they must not escape from their social responsibilities.
He also explained the reason of taking a token charge from the organisations as this would motivate them to acknowledge their responsibilities in a better way.
For the purpose, Nagar Nigam has put forth the proposal before the High Court of charging Rs 20,000 as the token fee from each organisation and in case a single organisation volunteers for the beautification of more than one park, then too it will have to pay Rs 20,000 only.
The organisations which have been handed over the charge of beautification are KC Automobile for Lohia Park, Prayag Presidency Hotel for Eklavya Park, Bengali Social and Welfare Association for Tagore Town Park, Savitri Constructions for Jawahar Lal Nehru Park. Likewise, other organisations are Punjab National and Sindh Bank for Shastri Park, Pappu Silk Store for Meerapur Park, Atlas Cycle Company for Ghantaghar, Prayag Vyapar Mandal for Swaroop Rani Park and Prayag Hotel for park located in front of Railway station.
"Those organisations which prove their mettle will be felicitated by Nagar Nigam.
During the inspection, it was found that Hotel Kanha Shyam has done a good job for the crossing of All Saints' Cathedral and Bhawani Paper Mills too has done a commendable job for Vivekanand Park. Both of them will be felicitated soon," said the DM.
