A thick blanket of fog and chilly winds in Agra forced people to spend Sunday indoors as the minimum temperature plummeted to 0.6 degrees Celsius.
The weather office said Agra was the coldest region in Uttar Pradesh.
The markets were deserted and visitors to monuments fell as icy winds and poor visibility made movement difficult.
