The daytime and nighttime temperature on Friday had been recorded at 23.5 degree Celsius and 8.9 degree Celsius, while on Thursday it was 23.8 degree Celsius and 9 degree Celsius, respectively.

Meteorological department has attributed the cold to the northwest disturbance resulting in continuous snowfall in the higher reaches. The cold wave riding downwards from north is causing a dip in temperature, and the cold conditions are likely to continue for at least a few more days.

Met sources say that due to continuous precipitation and snowfall moisture is being formed and released in the environment initiating cloud formation process. The effect of cold will reduce after sufficient cloud cover is formed as these act as insulators and stop the heat released by the earth without letting it seep away.
