"We are working towards preventing diabetes at the grassroots level. Comic books are a favourite with children and they (children) have a tendency to ape whatever their comic characters do. That is why we chose to educate them about diabetes through these books," Dr A K Jhingan, Chairman Delhi Diabetes Research Centre said.

These comic books will be handed over to the Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely tomorrow. About 1000 comic books, both in Hindi and English, will be given to the minister.

According to the International Diabetic Federation, India is the diabetes capital of the world with as many as 50.8 million people suffering from diabetes.
