The coveted trophy was awarded to Maj Gen Bipin Puri, commandant, Command Hospital, in a ceremony held at South Block, ministry of defence, New Delhi, by the defence minister. The chiefs of tri services, DGAFMS and other senior dignitaries of the MoD and the three services were also present.

The trophy was instituted in 1989 to identify and acknowledge excellence in patient care and hospital management among Command and equivalent hospitals of the Army, Navy and the Air Force.

Northern Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra congratulated Puri and his team of doctors, nursing officers and staff on this achievement.
