CONGRESS ON Thursday alleged that a tribal and his two sons died due to starvation and lack of medical aid in Nayapura village of Dewas district.
While the tribal Vikram Singh died due to starvation a couple of days ago, his sons Vishal (10) and Rumuru, died on October four and seven, respectively, Congress spokesman Manak Agrawal alleged at a press conference here.
Claiming that the financial condition of the family was pathetic, he said one of his sons was “handed over” to a labourer, while his daughter was staying with her maternal grandparents.
He demanded expulsion of Dewas district in-charge minister Paras Jain for the incident and sought a high-level probe into the deaths.
The government should also extend financial assistance to the family, Agrawal demanded. Alleging that people living below the poverty line were not being extended benefits under the Antyodaya Scheme, the Congress spokesman accused the government of failing to prevent middlemen from making away with foodgrains meant for distribution among the poor.
