Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has expressed hope that the new Cong-led govt would be more positive towards the state on issue of restoration of peace and development.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Saturday hoped that the new Congress-led government at the centre would be more positive towards the state on issue of restoration of peace and development.
"We hope that new government would be more positive towards Jammu and Kashmir especially on the issues of restoration of peace and normalcy and development", he told reporters
He said the state was likely to be adequately represented in the new union ministry which would make it easy for the central government to deal with the issues concerning people of the state and take necessary measures.
Expressing confidence that the Congress-led government at the centre would be able to better understand the problems confronting the state, he said the coalition government in the state would work with it in complete harmony.
"The outgoing NDA government was helpful, but we hope the new government would be more positive towards the state", he said.
He said the arrangement has worked well in the state and hoped it would do so at the centre.
Asked if the felt the peace process initiated during the outgoing Vajpayee government would be carried forward, Sayeed said "it was perhaps the only issue on which there was national consensus".
"All political parties across board supported this initiative", Sayeed said adding he saw no reason why the process would not be taken forward.
