THE CONGRESS is gearing up to welcome the newly appointed State general secretary of the party Syed Jamal who is arriving here on September 12.

At a meeting of the party, city unit president Chaudhari Irshad Husain and secretary Aslam Parvez said nomination of Dr Jamal was indicative of the fact that the Congress was sincere about the Muslims their due share in the party and the government.
Party’s state working committee member Syed Iltaf Husain, who also addressed the meeting, said that party activists would welcome Jamal at the railway station and take out a procession that would pass through various routes in the city.
He said the nomination of Jamal had infused a new life into the party workers.
Meanwhile, at another meeting, district unit president of the party Sanjeev Kumar Singh said the people of Uttar Pradesh were annoyed with the Samajwadi Party government’s misrule.
They were depending on the Congress party for a viable alternative, he said. He added that the Congress believed in welfare of the weaker section and urged party workers to go to the people to regain their confidence.
