Congressmen have been staging demonstrations for the past few days in protest against poor civic amenities.

Earlier in the day they took out a procession carrying placards, banners from Chhote Gutahiya and reached Motijheel and raised slogans against poor civic amenities. They had gone there to give a memorandum to the authorities concerned highlighting the problems of the city. However, they were stopped from entering the KDA and KMC premises. The agitated Congmen then tried to enter the premises forcefully breaking the barricades. This resulted in police lathicharge on them.

Even as the high voltage drama continued none of the civic authorities turned up to collect the memorandum from the agitated Congress workers. It was only when the Congmen had pasted the memorandum on the main gates to the premises that they decided to call off the agitation.

Prominent among those who led the demonstration included Mahesh Balmiki, Madan Setia, Harish Gupta, Krapesh Tripathi and Chandrakant Dixit. Earlier, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal had also addressed the demonstrators.
