Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, V Satish, the BJP's in-charge of Northeast affairs alleged that the Congress governments are neglecting national security by going soft towards militants because of political compulsions.

Referring to current visit of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to the Northeast he said nothing much can be expected from his visit, which he termed as an "eyewash".

He said the BJP has already started preparation for the assembly election in Assam.
