The Congress party on Sunday hailed the achievements of Indian diaspora, saying they were country's permanent ambassadors to the world.

The party also underlined the need to revamp and revitalize the Indian Overseas Congress.

It noted the conspicuously growing reach and clout of Indian diaspora, reflected in persons of Indian origin getting elected and selected to high public offices in major democracies.

The resolution said the importance Indian give to persons of Indian origin will "undoubtedly give us distinct advantages in centres of political power and commercial hubs across the world".
