Sources close to Rahul Gandhi dismissed media reports about Priyanka assuming larger role in the Congress as ‘rubbish’. “There is no truth in such reports which keep coming up after brief intervals,” a close aide of Rahul said.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala reiterated that Priyanka has kept her role confined to two parliamentary seats. “Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has decided her role in politics, which is confined to two Parliamentary seats. Except this, everything is speculation, which we reject,” said Surjewala.

Meanwhile, Congress veteran Janardan Dwivedi declined to respond on the issue but said, “We will continue to fight it off and win the hearts of the people in a more vigorous manner.”

BJD leader Baijayant “Jay” Panda dubbed the issue as an internal matter of the Congress but added, “Every party should put forward their best talent, best candidates, her name has been discussed for many many years, so I wish her luck.”
