Cop shot dead by Naxals in Chattisgarh

A police officer was allegedly shot dead by Naxals in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

A police officer was allegedly shot dead by Naxals in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Wednesday.

Police sub inspector Nilesh Pandey, 27, was shot dead by Naxals on Tuesday night near Chinger Nala under Kutru police station in Raipur, Bijapur SP Prashant Agarwal said over phone.

Pandey, who was posted in Farsegarh police station, was going to Bijapur when the Naxals stopped the bus and forced him to come out, Agarwal said, adding, his body was recovered this morning.

The body is being brought to Bijapur, from where it would be sent to his native place Bilaspur, he said.
