Cop shot dead in south Kashmir

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot dead a police official in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. According to a police spokesman, unknown militants fired at constable Dalbeer Singh near Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama.

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot dead a police official in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to a police spokesman, unknown militants fired at constable Dalbeer Singh near Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama. “The incident happened this afternoon when the deceased constable was performing his duties,” said the spokesman.

The constable was rushed to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The constable was a resident of village Gohan, Baramulla district. Singh joined the police force in 2000. He is survived by aging parents and spouse.

“Police have registered a case and further investigations are on,” said the spokesman.
