THE LUCKNOW police have claimed to being extremely firm about checking the crime graph in the State capital. It is surely a difficult task. But, the city police have achieved this by simply denying incidents of major crime!
On Wednesday, the Madiaon police did so by refusing to register a case in a major incident of road hold-up that took place on Sitapur Road on Monday night.
On the other hand, SSP Ashutosh Pandey, giving a clean chit to his team, said no such incident had taken place.
A gang of armed robbers robbed cash and valuables from 22 persons after keeping them tied for over three hours. The police shooed away other victims hurling expletives at them and agreed to lodge a complaint from only one of the victims. However, the intention of the cops could be gauged from the fact that the station officer (SO) lodged a case of theft only as a complaint.
The incident took place near Madiaon village and Shatrohan of Mishrapur village was the first to fall prey to the robbers. Shatrohan was going to attend a marriage ceremony at Rasoolpur village along with his nephew Raju on his motorcycle (UP 32 AV-7579) that night. Ram Ghulam and Mangal of the same village too, were accompanying Shatrohan on a scooter.
On their way, Shatrohan suddenly screeched to a halt seeing that the road was blocked by bamboos. As they all stopped, about half-a-dozen armed youths pounced upon Shatrohan and Raju and took them at gunpoint to a nearby field.
The miscreants got the victim to take off their shirts and then, tied them with the shirts. The robbers later collected cash from the victims and snatched a mobile phone from Shatrohan. They detained the foursome at the place and went ahead with their robbing spree.
The robbers then targeted other passers-by. They took Arjun, Luvkush, Dayaram, Ajay, Jeetu, Mahesh, Dinesh, and three minors Sunit, Rajesh and Ajit, all residents of Barkhurdarpur village, one-by-one, to the same field. These victims too were going on motorcycles to attend a marriage ceremony.
The robbers tied these victims as well and took away cash, valuables and mobile phones. The miscreants did not spare the small boys too and assaulted them.
Similarly, eight others too were dragged from the road to the same field and robbed.
After collecting the booty, the robbers vanished into the darkness while two of them took Shatrohan’s mobike.
