Area councillor Suman Kumar Gupta made this demand while taking part in a debate on the MCD budget proposals for 2011-12.

Gupta said issuance of trade licences will also ensure lesser corruption. According to him, when the Delhi Master Plan 2021 was brought into force in February 2007, a period of three years was kept to make a redevelopment plan for designated “special areas.”

“It was later extended by a year, but no work has been done in this regard so far,” Gupta said.
