Countermand Bettiah poll, demands Prakash Jha

He alleged that large-scale rigging took place at the hands of supporters of a local don.

Noted filmmaker Prakash Jha, who contested Lok Sabha polls as an independent from Bettiah in Bihar, on Friday demanded countermanding of the elections in the constituency alleging large-scale irregularities.

Jha complaint to the Election Commission that large-scale rigging and violence took place at the hands of supporters of a local don who is in the fray during April 26 polling.

"Paramilitary forces deployed in strength there undertook flag marches three days prior to the polling, on the day of polling they were kept in the barracks," he claimed.

Charging the Commission with "lackluster attitude", he said he had sent several complaints to it but of no avail.

"Not even a single acknowledgement was received by me," he said after meeting EC officials.
