Court exempts Joshi, Uma from appearance in Babri case

The special CBI court has exempted Joshi and Uma from their personal appearance in court for Friday and fixed Feb 24 for next hearing.

The special CBI court hearing the Babri masjid demolition case here exempted seven accused including Union Human Resource Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti from their personal appearance in the court for Friday and fixed February 24 for next hearing.

The counsels of the seven accused submitted an application in the court of special magistrate Vinod Kumar Singh seeking exemption from personal appearance for Friday, which the court granted.

The seven leaders had moved the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court against the special CBI court's decision of framing of charges against them in the Babri masjid demolition case.

The high court had stayed the proceedings in the special court till further orders.
