Manvendra Singh, the father-in-law of the Minister's grandson Abijit Singh, lodged the case. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandausi, has summoned Abhijit, his father Abhimanyu Singh, mother Beena and three other relatives.

On an application by Abhijit's father-in-law, the ACJM court had on July last year ordered the police to lodge a case against the six, as also Arjun Singh, under various sections of the IPC and Anti-Dowry Act.

The CBI and the local police, after whom the name of Arjun Singh was withdrawn, investigated the matter and later, the case itself was closed.

Manvendra Singh on Thursday filed a plea against the police closure of the case. However, the petition did not mention the name of the Union Minister.

Abhijit Singh got married to Priyanka Singh of Moradabad in February 2006.
