“The alleged statement by the Woman and Child Welfare minister had created hatred among different communities. The statement was an insult to the district’s people,” said a city advocate who helped the complainants file the case in the City Judicial Magistrate court.

The cases were filed under IPC 153 (A)(communal provocation statement), 153 (B)(statement against country’s integrity) and 505 (instigating communal violence), Padma Prasad Hegde told PTI in Mangalore.

The Mayor and certain others have already issued notices to the minister on February 12 to withdraw her statement and apologise, he said, adding “Taliban and Talibanisation refers to terrorism and for Indian Citizen it means anti-Indian and anti-human.”
