Ever wanted to control your home appliances or gadgets with your smartphone? Win this contest, and you may very well have your dream application developed by a leading mobile phone brand. With existing applications already serving a range of functions such as social networking, gaming as well as utility, the event organisers believe that giving their consumers the liberty to conceptualise and customise will enable them to do a lot more with their devices.

The campaign, titled ‘What can you control with the Nokia N8’ is aimed at showcasing the power of phone applications. The brand has also organised a roadshow during which, mini racing experiences are being organised at malls across Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai, wherein mini-model cars will be seen, that are controlled using an application on the phone.

“Through the device and app, the mini model cars can be controlled from anywhere on the planet via internet connectivity,” enthuses Jasmeet Gandhi, head, devices OPM and services marketing, Nokia India.

Also in store is a contest, inviting consumers to send in ideas on what they would like to control with their N8 devices. “We will ensure that the most creative and innovative idea comes to life — giving consumers the opportunity to work with some of the leading developers in the country,” says Gandhi. The brand’s Ovi Store, which currently boasts of over 40,000 apps, claims to have shown an eight-fold growth from last year.

According to Gandhi, “India is among the top three markets for application download, which results in an enriched mobile lifestyle.” He adds, “And this is marked by easy access to popular games, maps, locally relevant music choices, great messaging capabilities and information tools.”
