CRPF gets 71 gallantry medals on Independence day eve

The country's largest paramilitary force, the CRPF has bagged 71 gallantry medals announced on the eve of the Independence Day.

The country's largest paramilitary force, the CRPF has bagged 71 gallantry medals announced on the eve of the Independence Day.

"It is the largest haul of gallantry medals by any force on single occasion which clearly reflects the bravery of our personnel," said force's IG (operations) Zulfikar Hassan.



CRPF's two assistant commandants - SK Das and JK Upadhyay -and two constables -SK Sharma and Sunny Slathia - have been posthumously awarded the gallantry medal.



In total, the government has awarded 919 central and state forces police personnel with gallantry and distinguished service medals. .



President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) awarded to 15 personnel, Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) has been given to 163 police personnel, President's police medal for distinguished service to 82 personnel and police medal for meritorious service has been accorded to 659 personnel, a Home Ministry statement said.



Apart from these, thirty seven personnel have been awarded the President's correctional service medal for distinguished service, correctional service medal and President's correctional service medal for gallantry to one police official.
