CS warns officials against laxity

STATE CHIEF secretary R Ramani on Sunday directed the officials to take stock of development works on regular basis and warned them of any laxity.

Chief Secretary was in the city to review progress of development works going on in the division, especially which were recommended by administrative officers during their night halt visit made by them following instructions of the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Holding a review meeting, Ramani directed the officials to ensure completion of work latest by March 15. He also ordered them to include the proposed construction of nine overbridges under the Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission project.

Talking to mediapersons, he said most of the development works recommended by the administrative officers during their night halt visit had been completed. However, at few places, it could not be completed due to technical problems and shortage of funds, he added. These problems were being solved and funds had been released, he said.

By the end of this month, funds for prestigious Ganga Action Plan would be released, chief secretary said.

He said earlier funds allocated for the project were diverted for some other programme.

When asked about progress of the proposed flyovers in the city, Ramani said that provision for fund worth Rs 500 core for six cities of the State had been proposed in the new budget and all other concerned agencies would be contacted for construction of these flyovers.

About poor law and order in the State, Ramani said any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated and district magistrates (DMs) and SSPs would be held responsible for poor law and order.

Ramani said meeting with IIT officials had been held about technical assistant for development activities. All senior officers, including divisional commissioner Anita Bhatnagar Jain, district magistrate Deepak Kumarand were present in the meeting.
