Curfew relaxed in parts of Vadodara

Curfew was imposed in the walled city areas following clashes that erupted after a dargah was razed in a demolition drive.

Curfew was relaxed on Sunday for seven hours in parts of Vadodara with situation returning to normal and no violence reported over the past three days, the police said.

On Sunday, curfew was lifted from 9 am to 4 pm, said Vadodara Police Commissioner Deepak Swarup.

Curfew was imposed in the walled city areas following clashes that erupted after a dargah was razed in a demolition drive by the civic authorities.

Six people were killed in three days of violence.

The army was deployed in six neighbourhoods of the city, about 110 km from Ahmedabad, on Wednesday night to bring the violence under control. The troops were withdrawn from Kareli Baug and Rao Pura areas on Saturday.
