DACOITS STRUCK five houses on the city outskirts in Gudamba, killing one and injuring several others in their early morning loot-and-plunder spree on Wednesday.

The police confirmed it was not Banwaria gang.
The dacoits killed a villager who was sleeping by the tube well.
Identified as Ramesh, the villager was apparently the first one to notice the dacoits and had to pay with his life.
Daring dacoits then barged into five houses in the village and eliminated all resistance, whenever it came.
A father-daughter duo, were brutally attacked with iron rods when they tried to offer resistance and raise an alarm.
Both were later admitted to a private hospital where their condition is reported to be stable.
There were reports that several other villagers were injured by the dacoits. The cops, who arrived much after the incident had taken place, maintained that only two persons were injured. Till the time of filing the report, the cops merely succeeded in recovering a box that was reportedly taken away by the dacoits.
According to villagers, Ramesh, a resident of the village had gone to the tube well late on Tuesday night. Finding the weather pleasant, he apparently decided to sleep near the tube well.
Since he was sleeping in the open, he was apparently the first to notice the dacoits.
To escape getting noticed by the entire village, the dacoits slit his throat with a sharp edged weapon. He died on the spot.
Manohar, resident of a neighbouring village, informed Ramesh’s wife Phoola Devi about her husband’s murder.
It was only after this that the word spread rapidly about dacoits having struck in the village.
Villagers from Rasoolpur as well as nearby villages gathered together to assess the entire damage.
They discovered that the dacoits had looted several houses in the vicinity and escaped with booty worth several lakhs. A housewife, Meena, informed newspersons that she had gone to sleep at her house after locking the channel gate. She said about eight dacoits broke open the channel gate and barged inside her house.
Armed with iron rods etc, the dacoits, she said, had covered their faces to escape attention. They collected everything that they could lay their hands on including Rs 1100 in cash, utensils, jewellery etc. They then raided the house of Sri Ram who got awake when the dacoits barged inside.
Sensing trouble, the dacoits attacked Sri Ram with rods repeatedly until he slumped on the floor.
Sri Ram’s daughter Babbo too got up. She too was attacked with rods. One of the dacoits reportedly hit her on her head with an iron rod. She fell down unconscious.
From there the dacoits struck at several other houses, eliminating all resistance to escape getting noticed and collecting whatever they considered valuable. The police was groping in the dark till the time of going to the press.
