Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Veena Sikri sought Dhaka's support during a meeting with Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan, the Bangladesh Observer reported.

Sikri informed the foreign minister that India has nominated Tharoor, the UN under secretary general for communications and public information, as its candidate when the two exchanged views on UN reforms and the candidature scenario.

It is Asia's turn to hold the high post when Kofi Annan steps down later this year. There are other Asian candidates too in the fray.
