Now into his second term at the helm of affairs in the state, 63-year-old Deshmukh wants to don the hat of a writer.

"I am planning to write a book on the former Chief Ministers and it would contain my experiences while working under their stewardship," Deshmukh told reporters at a dinner hosted by him last night at his official residence 'Varsha' in south Mumbai.

"I have observed their working style minutely and have imbibed a lot from them, especially the way they took decisions," said Deshmukh, who was first inducted into the ministry in 1982 by late Babasaheb Bhosale.

Deshmukh has been a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 1980 except for the period 1995-99.

He had handed diverse portfolios like Home, General Administration, Co-operation, Public Works, Transport, Legislative Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development Fisheries, Industry, Rural Development, Education, Technical Education, Sport and Youth Welfare.
