Other Indian restaurants which have won it in previous years are Tamarind in Mayfair, Zaika in Knightsbridge and Benares at Berkeley Square.

Quilon, which opened in 1999, specialises in Keralite, Mangalorean and Goan cuisine. Said chief chef Shri Ram, " I am very happy and feel very lucky as well to have won this award.”

Regular patrons of Quilon include Roger Moore, Roger Federer and Woody Allen. The Bachchan family has been a regular visitor.
