Directives on fake encounter case
A DIVISION Bench of the Allahabad High Court, comprising Chief Justice AN Ray and Justice Ashok Bhushan, has directed the petitioner to approach appropriate state authorities to demand the arrest of some policemen accused of killing two persons in a fake encounter.

The People’s Union for Human Rights had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding the arrest of the accused policemen for the fake encounter in district Sonebhadra in September 2003.
In the petition filed through KK Roy, it was also alleged that the accused cops had been threatening the family members of the informant/complainant and thus, it was also requested that the court direct authorities concerned to provide security to them and their family members.
As per facts, on September 2, 2003, one Prabhat Kumar and Rama Shankar, while travelling in a train were taken into police custody. Thereafter, on September 3, 2003, their bodies were found in Rantila Janga, in Sonebhadra.
After an enquiry by a magistrate, the investigation was handed over to the CB-CID and on its basis, an FIR was registered against the 15 cops.
Pal case hearing on April 7
THE ADDITIONAL sessions judge here has fixed April 7 as the next hearing date in BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.
As per the court directive, Dr AK Gupta, who conducted the post mortem and a police constable, who carried Pal’s body, appeared before the Court and gave their evidence. Raju Pal’s widow Puja Pal and mother Rani Pal, moved an application before the ASJ that since they were not well, their evidence be postponed for some days.
