Those who participated in the rally demanded demarcation of boundary wall of the cemetery land on which some people are trying to construct a road. The court issued a stay order on the cemetery land number 728. BJP MP Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone for construction of the road there.
The atmosphere was charged at the district magistrate office when members of a particular community raised slogans. The BJP youths had also staged dharna at the district magistrate office. Heavy security was deployed at the district magistrate office to handle any situation.
Senior Congress leader Chaudhary Najmuddin, Qamruzzam Ansari, Nabiullah Ansari and others handed over a memorandum to the additional district magistrate and demanded removal of the encroachment from cemetery land.
They also submitted the documents regarding the cemetery land in favour of their claims.
Ansari said that partisan attitude of the district administration towards the issue has aggravated the situation. The local administration remained a mute spectator when some people laid the foundation for construction of the road. However, the other party claimed that a stay order was issued against the land record number 728 and the road is in land record number 729 and 730.
Therefore, it is undisputed.
Ansari said that the Municipal Corporation and the district administration demarcated the land and total area of the cemetery land is 1.78 acre. This area should be separated by a wall.
He said in 1977, committee had constructed a boundary wall that was demolished by some people.
Meanwhile, a senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and director of UP Minority Financial Corporation Zafar Amin Dakku said that Yogi Adityanath had laid the foundation stone of the road for communal tension in the city.
SP (city) Dilip Kumar and circle officer controlled the situation and assured that they would go through the files and do justice.
