Meanwhile, the indefinite strike of doctors entered its sixth-day here on Monday. The irate doctors stayed away from the out patient department and the general ward of the General Medicine department in Sir Sunderlal Hospital today.
However, the emergency services were remained unaffected.
The agitated resident doctors were raising slogans ‘Ram Nam Satya Hai’, ‘Bhrashtachar Band Karo’ and ‘Dr NK Singh Hai Hai’ to register their protest.
They have warned the BHU administration to go on an indefinite ‘hunger strike’ from Tuesday if Dr NK Singh was not removed from his designation with immediate effect.
However, security guards of BHU led by chief proctor, Prof SK Singh, did not allow the agitated doctors to take out the procession outside the IMS premises. The two sides entered into a scuffle.
Later, the doctors took out a march from the IMS building to the statue of BHU founder Mahamana Pt Madan Mohan Malviya outside the BHU main gate.
“Dr NK Singh was involved in harassing the financially downtrodden patients of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by compelling them to undergo unnecessary and very costly investigations with private diagnostic centres even though these facilities were available at the SS Hospital', alleged the doctors.
“The residents who were not able to satisfy the domestic and financial needs of Dr NK Singh were being penalised. They failed in their final examinations despite having a good academic record,” alleged the residents doctors and demanded immediate removal of Dr NK Singh from his designation.
The resident doctors led by Dr Vikram Singh said, that they had joined the prestigious Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University to study the lesson of humanity and they would never over-look ‘corruption' prevailing under the patronage of some senior doctors and faculty members at Sir Sunderlal Hospital and IMS, Banaras Hindu University.
