The 7th biennial conference of the World Telugu Federation (WTF), a non-profit organization, will be held here next month.

WTF, which is now 14 years old, works to foster deeper understanding of the society, culture and arts of Andhra Pradesh.

The three-day conference, which will take place from April 12 at Dubai Expo, will be inaugurated by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the presence of ministers from Andhra Pradesh.

The event, last held in Bangalore in 2004, is being held for the first time in the region.

"Our main objective is to foster friendship and goodwill among the Telugu speaking people across the globe through the medium of workshops, seminars and conferences," a report in the Khaleej Times newspaper quoted Indira Dutt, president of WTF as saying.
