Earthquake measuring 5.1 on Richter Scale hits Andaman islands

A medium intensity earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale hit the Andaman islands in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake hit the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago at the depth of 10km at 2.02am.

There have been no reports of damage to property or casualties so far.

The archipelago is considered to be a high seismic zone.
