THE BIG guns today won their snooker matches in the National Billiards and Snooker Tournament being organised by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department at BHEL Senior Club.

In the morning session, Arjuna Award Recipient Yasin Merchant convincingly defeated Ashok Shandilya 3-0. Shandilya struggled in the entire match.

After winning first frame with a huge margin of 76-7, Yasin took the driver’s seat. Shandilya did a try to bounce back in the match but the brilliant game by Yasin took the match away from him with a 59-46 win in the second frame. Winning the third frame 61-1, Yasin registered his first win of the tournament. But Yasin went down against Devendra Joshi in the second match.

Pankaj Advani got rhythm on the third day of the tournament. He defeated Neeraj Kumar without any resistance. Pankaj defeated Neeraj 3-0 (60-35, 73-21, 73-22).

Sarang Shroff who played well on Thursday failed to repeat his performance on Friday and lost match against Aditya Mehta 3-2 (72-38, 64-59, 43-78, 14-61 and 57-4). However, he won the second match against Neeraj Kumar 3-2.
