The Election Commission issued a show-cause notice to the AIADMK in Pondicherry for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by defacing public property.
The Commission shot off the notice to AIADMK leader Anbazhagan on Saturday, asking why the party's recognition should not be suspended or withdrawn, a source at the poll panel said Monday.
The notice followed several complaints from the federally administered territory that the AIADMK had erected cut outs, banners, flag-posts and defaced public property in violation of the election rules.
The Commission has sought the party's reply in a week, the source added
