Election process begins in Orissa

Filing of nomination papers for LS & assembly polls in Orissa begins today with the issue of the notification for the first phase of polls.

Filing of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Orissa begins today with the issue of the notification for the first phase of polls to be held on April 20.

Elections would be held for 11 of the 21 Lok Sabha and 77 of the assembly constituencies, located mostly in the southern and western belts of the state.

The second phase polls would be held on April 26 for 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats.

The Lok Sabha constituencies going to polls in the first phase are: Berhampur, Koraput(st), Nawarangpur(st), Kalahandi, Balangir, Phulbani(sc), Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh(st) and Keonjhar(st).

The last date for filing of nominations is March 31 for the first phase polls which would be scrutinised on April two. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is April five.
