Ensure cancellation of bails of criminals: Nitish

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed the state police to ensure cancellation of the bails of criminals.

Under fire from the Opposition over recent surge in crimes, particularly incidents of kidnapping for ransom, in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday directed the state police to ensure cancellation of the bails of criminals.

During a six-hour long meeting with top police brass of the state, including state police Chief Ashish Ranjan Sinha and Superintendents of Police of all the districts, to review law and order situation in the wake of recent spurt in kidnapping cases, Kumar directed them to approach the courts for cancellation of bails and speed up the trials of criminals who commit crime after being enlarged on bails.

Sinha and Additional Director General of Police (headquarters) Abhyanand told reporters that the CM asked the police to establish "superiority" over criminals by adopting pro-active approach.

The CM told the policemen to be a partner in government's development efforts by providing security to people engaged in developmental activities. He laid special emphahsis on providing security to the staff of central agencies executing the East-West corridor mega road project and other schemes.
