Ensure safety of innocents during anti-naxal operation: CPI

The CPI on Friday asked the Centre to ensure safety of innocent villagers during anti-naxal operations. "No innocent villager should be a victim during the offensive against the naxalites. The Centre should guarantee this," CPI's Jharkhand unit Secretary, B P Mehta told reporters in Ranchi.

"No innocent villager should be a victim during the offensive against the naxalites. The Centre should guarantee this," CPI's Jharkhand unit Secretary, B P Mehta told reporters in Ranchi.

"The naxalites know how to hide in the forests making villagers vulnerable in the forest areas," the former Lok Sabha member said adding that the casualty figure of naxalites was far less in number than that of civilians and policemen.

Mehta said the only solution to keep the youth away from naxalism was to provide employment and undertake developmental work.
