Naik, who is contesting from the north Mumbai constituency, arrived at the booth at 7 AM to exercise his franchise. However, due to a technical snag the Union Minister and others could cast their votes only after half an hour.

Speaking to reporters later, Naik said he has appealed to the Election Office to extend the voting time to 5.30 p m as the voters could not cast their ballot for half an hour.

However, the Election Office sources said the time would not be extended.

"Only those who turn up to vote before the concluding time and are in the queue, would be allowed to cast their votes even after the clock strikes five," the sources said.
