Relying on the testimony of one of his daughters, who survived the attack, District Judge K K Sharma convicted the accused.

Suspecting his wife of having an illicit relationship, the accused Amar Singh on May 29, 2005, set the van afire in which his wife, Urmila Devi and four daughters were travelling to Kannauj.

While two of his daughters died, two others survived.

Singh said he will challenge the decision in high court.
