He was arrested after six hours of questioning by the agency at Jaipur Circuit House, dealing a blow to the Congress ahead of assembly elections scheduled on December 1.

A 34-year-old woman had accused Nagar of raping her on September 11 at his official residence, where he had allegedly called her on the pretext of giving her a job. The CBI team questioned her a few days ago and recorded her statement.

The team had also conducted a forensic examination of the bedroom where the alleged rape took place. The agency took over investigation from the CID on the state government’s request on October 9.

Nagar resigned on September 21 and was suspended from the party later. He told reporters on Friday that it was a conspiracy against him.
