About seven bottles of IV fluid were missing from the stock, and it was suspected that they might have been administered to the patients because of alleged carelessness of duty nurses and doctors.

The stock of 18 bottles of expired IV fluid was recovered from the duty room of ward 9. The hospital’s general store supplied the stock. The manufacturing date, as mentioned on the packing slip, was February 2002 and the expiry date was February 2006. According to reports, some doctors and duty nurses recovered the expired IV fluid bottles. They were surprised to see that seven bottles were missing from the stock. Sources said they were already administered to the patients.

Superintendent-in-charge of SRN Hospital Dr ST Imam said he would inquire into the matter. “I am not aware of the incident but I will inquire into the matter,” he added.
